Our life in pictures...

Yesterday Bek and I bought new digital cameras!!

We had discussed buying a new one for a while as our current camera is several years old and its speed and picture quality have reduced significantly. Add on the fact that we are traveling to the USA for 3 months and I'll use it for work while there - it became worthwhile.

It is now an early Christmas present from Us, plus both Mum's and Dad's (and anyone else who wants to pitch in for it as my present since we'll be away) to Us. :-)

I had done my research as best I could and I knew what I was after so we headed off to get it. I must say we did score a bargain and I recommend shopping at The Good Guys any day!
Bek and I eventually walked out with:

  • - An Olympus E-520 with Twin-Lens kit
  • - 5yr warranty
  • - 2gb Compact Flash card
  • - AND a new Olympus FE-20 'point-and-shoot'
all for just under the full price of the E-520 on its own!!!!!

Very happy with that, so now I just have to concentrate on my Uni work and not get distracted by the new toys!

What do you mean "its speed and picture quality have reduced significantly" when you're talking about your old digital camera?

I guess there might be some sort of OS issue that's causing the start-up time or maybe shutter lag, but surely a 7mp camera is a 7mp camera?

But in the end, who cares? You've got a great new camera and I look forward to seeing your shots on Flickr.

P.S. I find it interesting that you've seriously upgraded to a flashy digital SLR while I've seriously downgraded to a 30 year old Polaroid and a 10 year old plastic Lomo!

The irony of the upgrade/downgrade was not lost on me. :-)

We'd just noticed that picture processing time, shutter time and non-daylight quality had reduced on the old one.

In my mind that equals a pretty useless camera - when you line it up against its intended use.

And like you say - who cares now! :-)
