The rabbit hutch of the future...

Here is a concept that i'd love to build for him one day...when we have more money and more time! I reckon its quite neat! I knocked it up on my lunch break at work...plus a bit more. ;)
Obviously there are some design tweaks required.
Let me know if you spot the main design issue that currently exists!!

...Sleek, modern design and materials...
...Spacious interior...

...easy access...

    Looks great!

With the smooth lines and rounded corners, you should make it all white & appeal to MAC users! If you added some speakers and an iPod dock, you could call it the iHutch & Bunny could listen to soothing music while you're at work. You'd make millions!

As for design flaws.... no idea. Oh, I didn't see any biometric scanner locks. Fingerprint security would be very cool!

    Rob.

PS - You're very lucky & skilled - I'd love to be able to knock up stuff like this.

    AHA!!! No flush toilet!
    Very cool tho
    Looks even better full screen.
Rob's idea of a security lock is a good one - foxes aren't known for their techno skills.

Re design flaws - if he climbs up the inside a bit will it tip over? Those rounded edges wouldn't be too stable. It needs some rabbit feet.

Good spots - all taken into consideration - and spots that i hadn't got to yet.
The flaw i was talking about...albeit slightly hard to see from those pics actually...
    - The lid for the covered area rests on top of the framing, but the shape of the top half would not allow it to lift over the corner of the framework - it would get stuck halfway.

but it would cost a bit. That is one-piece moulded plywood over that rear half...not fun to make, with an inbuilt hinge.

I'll source the fingerprinting, and research rabbit footprints.

    A few further thoughts:
    1. It's not obvious whether the hutch has a floor, but how about a slide-out one for cleaning etc?
    2. An integrated, or again slide-out, food receptacle would be useful. One that can be filled etc from outside to save opening the hutch.
    3. A "through-the-wall" drink tube, again for eae of filling.

I'm sure you could design something suitable!
